This is a good example of a - so called Brabant weef - Dutch Volunteer star (ster). The "volunteer star" within the Princess Irene Brigade was a special award or designation for men (and possibly women) who volunteered for this Dutch military unit during WWII, often in England or South Africa, with a star as a symbol on their uniform, distinguishing them from conscripts. This example is in a perfect un-issued condition.
